Noise Generator
Generate white, pink, or brown noise directly in your browser. Use it for focus and productivity, masking distracting background sounds, improving sleep, or breaking in new speakers. A multichannel speaker test is essential after any speaker move or audio receiver reconfiguration.
Noise Type
White, Pink & Brown Noise Explained
Noise color describes how the power of a noise signal is distributed across frequencies. Each type has a unique spectral shape and a distinct perceptual quality. Run the bass test to pinpoint the exact frequency where your subwoofer output drops off.
White Noise
Contains equal power across all frequencies within the audible range. Sounds like a bright, static hiss — similar to an untuned radio or a rushing shower. Effective for masking a wide range of sounds. Use the spectrum analyzer to identify dominant frequencies, resonances, and noise peaks in your audio.
Pink Noise
Has equal power per octave — so it decreases at 3 dB per octave. Sounds more balanced and natural, similar to steady rain or wind. Widely used in audio testing and acoustic measurements.
Brown Noise (Red Noise)
Decreases at 6 dB per octave — much more low-frequency energy. Sounds deep and rumbling, like a strong waterfall or distant thunder. Many people find it deeply relaxing.
Common Uses
- Focus & productivity: Masks office chatter and intermittent distractions
- Sleep: Smooths out sudden noises that disrupt sleep
- Tinnitus relief: Helps mask the perception of ringing in the ears
- Speaker burn-in: Pink noise is widely used to run in new speaker drivers
- Room acoustics: Pink noise helps identify acoustic problems when combined with a spectrum analyzer
